3 Books I'd Recommend to Someone-Who-is-Right-Brained-but-Needs-a-Little-Left-in-Her-Life-to-Make-Her-Business-Work

Confession: I'm not *really* a big reader. I'm kind of embarrassed about not *really* being a big reader because everyone knows that people who are super smart are big time readers. Ergo, I want people to think I'm super smart so I pretend.

The truth is that I do like to read - I'm just picky about what books I choose. I need something that will capture my attention pretty quickly.  And I love books that teach me something new, make me think differently about the world, or encourage me in to pursue qualities I admire. Or a book that is just dang pretty.

So with that major preface, here are a few books in the category I'd like to call: "Books I'd Recommend to
Someone-Who-is-Right-Brained-but-Needs-a-Little-Left-in-Her-Life-to-Make-Her-Business-Work."

Happy reading!

1. #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

This book has been around for a bit, but it's a gem. Very quick read and highly entertaining for all my #girlbosses out there. I listened via audio book while working on a big calligraphy order and found myself highly motivated to take Mint & Maple to the next level (at that time it meant making it a priority to pay my sales tax on time). It gives a great picture of the not-so-sexy life of a small business owner, while still making you feel like you could be the next Steve Jobs.

2. CREATIVE CONFIDENCE by Tom Kelley & David Kelley

The central message of this book is right in line with the belief that I built Mint & Maple around: that every person on this earth is creative!  I found myself yelling audibly "YES!" in inappropriate locations while reading this book because I couldn't agree more.  It's all about how to tap into your own creativity in your day-to-day life.

3. MANAGE YOUR DAY-TO-DAY edited by Jocelyn K. Glei

This book was recommended to me by my hubby. It was one of those things where he gently told me he "thought it would challenge me." Otherwise known as "You don't have any structure in your life.  There is a better way." And let me say, I completely agree. This is a book full of little stories and advice from very successful people and how they structure their life to maximize their creativity. I'd recommend doing this one book club style with a friend or two and adding some accountability. I know how you creatives are..
